Behind The Lens

My name is Carter Lawrence. I grew up in a small town called Manning in Northern Alberta, Canada. Life moved a little slower, and the open skies stretched forever. Those wide landscapes and quiet moments had a way of sticking with me, and eventually, they found their way into my work. I was always drawn to visual storytelling, but it wasn’t until after years of playing competitive sports and working with many great companies and people that I picked up a camera and started seeing the world differently.

I now live in Calgary, Alberta, where the prairies meet the mountains, and every weekend feels like a chance to explore somewhere new. It’s a city that gives me the best of both worlds — the creative pulse of an urban space and the calm, grounding energy of nature just a short drive away. Being surrounded by these wide-open landscapes has shaped not only my photography but also how I see the world. I’ve always had a sense of curiosity, an appreciation for small details, and a constant pull toward the in-between moments. Whether I’m hiking into the hills of Banff, chasing golden light in Drumheller, or capturing a quiet moment downtown, Calgary is the perfect home base for the kind of stories I love to tell through my lens.

While I’m based in Calgary and often shoot in places like Banff, Drumheller, and across Alberta, I also travel the world to work with clients in stunning, meaningful locations. From local landscapes to international destinations, I bring the same curiosity, energy, and care to every story I tell.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me exploring the outdoors. I’m a firm believer that the best images come from real connection. So I approach every session with a laid-back energy, an eye for detail, and a genuine interest in the people and places in front of my lens. If you're looking for someone who brings both creativity and lived experience to the process, I’d love to work together. Let’s make something meaningful.
